Shopify e-commerce design and build
Yummy Colors is a Shopify e-commerce design studio and Shopify Partner. Whether you're launching a new store, improving one that isn't converting, or you need UX and UI consultation or branding, every project starts with a beautifully chosen theme customized to your brand. The shopping experience is on brand, meets your business objectives, and is built to convert.
Twenty years of design and creative leadership sit behind every store, including brand strategy, UX, and eCommerce craft, with 12+ years leading eCommerce for large brands and agencies. You get the quality of craft those brands pay agency rates for, without the agency price.
“Working with Annalisa and her team on the Nature Made website was genuinely one of the best agency collaborations I've had. They didn't just execute against a brief, they helped us articulate our vision, starting with a user journey mapping exercise that became the foundation for everything that followed.”

What a Yummy Colors build includes
Data-driven UX research before design
We conduct direct research with your existing customer base before any design work begins. You receive a comprehensive findings summary with prioritized optimization strategies, so every design decision is supported by user evidence rather than intuition.
Performance-first theme selection
We start from well-supported Shopify theme frameworks built for page speed and stability, then tailor the typography, color systems, layout, imagery, and content architecture to your brand. You get a fast-loading storefront without the extended timeline of a from-scratch build.
Full-funnel and Core Web Vitals optimization
The user journey extends well beyond the homepage. The decisive micro-conversions happen deeper in the shopping funnel, where page speed and friction directly affect cart abandonment. Every touchpoint is designed to reduce friction, meet Core Web Vitals benchmarks, and perform responsively across desktop and mobile viewports.
We talk to your customers before we design your store.
Most builds begin with an assumption. Someone decides what the customer wants, the store gets designed around that decision, and the assumption goes untested until the post-launch analytics come in, at which point correcting it is expensive.
Customer discovery is the first phase of every Yummy Colors build, included in the project fee rather than sold as an add-on. We conduct every interview ourselves, with a small group of your actual customers, covering acquisition path and purchase barriers. You receive a written findings summary with prioritized improvements and optimizations, and the design direction that follows is built on those findings, the intake questionnaire, the interviews, and established eCommerce best practices.
The research regularly surfaces more than digital improvements. Customers often volunteer feedback on the product itself, on packaging, or on fulfillment, and that comes back to you whether or not it touches the store.
For a business built on community, the research does more than inform the build. A frictionless purchase experience builds trust, and customers who feel valued return and refer others, which is the most durable acquisition channel available to a small brand.
How it works
Customer discovery
Weeks 1 to 2
Everything starts with your catalog, your margins, and who is actually buying. We interview your customers directly, and where a store already exists we audit the current experience alongside the research, reviewing page speed, funnel drop-off, and mobile behavior, then prioritize the improvements and optimizations with the highest expected impact. You receive the findings summary before any design work begins.
Direction
Week 3
Your brand elements and style guide become the design system for the store: typography scale, color system, layout structure, and content hierarchy across templates. To keep the project on track, you get two rounds of revisions on the homepage design before the build starts, so the direction is resolved while changes are still inexpensive.
Design and build
Weeks 4 to 6
The remaining templates are designed on brand for your business, and a development partner handles the technical build, theme customization, app configuration, and quality assurance across browsers and devices. There's one additional checkpoint partway through, with a further round of revisions, so you see the work in progress rather than only at the end.
Launch, then growth
Week 7 and after
Launch day covers verification of analytics tracking and the checkout flow end to end, then full ownership transfers to you. Growth support is available as a separate monthly engagement if you want ongoing analytics review and campaign management against real customer behavior.
Optional, after launch
A launch is a starting point, not a finish line.
Launch day is the point at which you know the least about your store. Every assumption in the design becomes measurable the moment real traffic arrives, and most stores never revisit those assumptions because no one is watching the data.
Growth support is a separate monthly engagement, not part of the build. It covers analytics review, funnel and conversion-rate analysis, campaign planning and management, and a prioritized backlog of improvements and optimizations driven by what the data shows. Some businesses take it on from launch day and some never do, and the store is built to perform on its own either way.
Tell us what you're building.
We believe open communication builds trust and clarifies expectations. Tell us about the store you want, along with any questions about scope, timeline, or budget, and we'll answer them straight.
The Yummy Colors team will reach out within 24 to 48 hours to schedule a strategy call and walk through a design solution for your business.
